A palace for Nobles

Here, Fikre is telling us about the Dungur Palace, which was probably a residence for nobles.

We walk up the steps to see the layout of the palace. It had 50 or more rooms and was undoubtedly an impressive building, dating back perhaps to the 7th century CE. It was discovered and excavated in the 1950's. This is illustrative of the fact that there was a great center of civilization over a long period of time here in the Axum area, and as yet, only a small amount has been excavated.
