Here is another picture from the Yeha Hotel. The stelae field is off to the right. In this picture, notice the big church in the center. It is the Church of St. Mary. Actually, there are several churches in this area, some older, and some modern. There was an older St. Mary's church that was destroyed, and this one is more modern. There were even older pre-Christian structures in the area. Axum is a center of the Ethiopian church and this is an important area. Let's go down and look closer.

The Church
