The Umpqua valley is a beautiful part of the state and the climate is good for growing grapes. Anita took Scott and me for a visit to several of the wineries.
The tasting room of the first one we visited has a deck out back, overlooking the river. Anita took Scott and me to the Country Club for a delicious lunch.Below is a picture in back of one of the wineries. I should have asked the significance of the heads in the circle. Beyond this are vineyards, and in the distance, hills at the side of the valley.
In one of the wineries, a picture of Anita and me, and below, Anita, Scott and me. You would have to go a long way to find a nicer niece than Anita. And Scott thinks she is a great cousin. In the field beyond us, they are planting new grapes. Soon the hill will be covered with vines.
I don't want to leave thinking that grapes are the only beautiful things. This young woman was working at one of the tasting rooms. Doesn't she have beautiful hair! I had hoped that the hill would show behind us, but didn't get it. But it certainly shows how beautiful she is.
