On the Rogue River

Anita Cox had set up a jet boat ride on the Rogue River. We drove to Grants Pass where the ride was to begin. We stopped off for some pizza and at the left, Ken, Dan, Carla and Scott are checking the menu.

At the right above is a picture of us on our boat as we passed under a bridge. And, of course, it includes advertising for the jet boat company, Hellgate Canyon. Along the walkway heading to the beginning of the ride, there was a nice waterfall.
Below this was a wall to sit on and behind that a nice mural.
Ricardo was listening to music for a while

Here is the group of people waiting for the boats to come up the river from a previous outing.
Ok! We did get on the boat. Below at the right, you see Nancy and Scott Cox who joined us for the ride.

Now for a few shots of people on the trip. The jet boat has big engines that can accelerate it rapidly and it can even spin completely around, and spray water over all the people. That is a good part of the excitement of the ride.

Davey and Ricardo at the back, and Adelina and Eleanor at the front, and to the right, two intrepid boaters, Davey and Ricardo. And below, the wind blowing her hair, Annie is enjoying the ride greatly.

There were things to see at the side of the river as the shots below show. There was a great blue heron, and another place deer, and a raccoon was looking for some food.

People had driven to various places along the river's edge to enjoy all it had to offer. How about a nice swim? Or, drive down to the water's edge and enjoy the afternoon.

There were ospreys many places along the way, often with nests in the top of a tree. The one shown below made its nest on the beam of a bridge. It was a fairly hot afternoon, and the birds would be standing to block the sun from the nest and to keep the chicks cool. The river is home to an amazing collection of living things.

There was one thing which really frightened me. As we passed down the river, near to the canyon, there were high rocks along the river's edge. There were people climbing up the rocks, high above the water and then jumping off into the river. Below, we saw two of them climbing up the rocks. Then, jump! And splash!

Back to the trip. At times we went on a placid river. At other times we would go over fairly shallow rapids and the operator would gun the engines and the boat would skim the surface over the shallower areas. That is the reason they use the jets rather than a regular propeller boat. We loved the scenery, the splash of the cool water
Below are some pictures of other boats on the river with us. When they revved the engines, the boats made beautiful wakes.

Check the smiling faces to give you an idea how much everybody enjoyed the trip.

And one final picture to show that there really were beautiful people on the trip!
