Trip to CA

On Thursday, 28 June 2012, we (Don, Ricardo, Adelina, Arleta and I) set out from Colorado to visit cousins and friends in California, Oregon and Washington. Thursday night at a motel in Winnemucca, Nevada, Don and Adelina were swimming.

Friday, we continued on. Not long after entering California, we went over Donner Pass. In 1846, a party heading for California in wagons, were trapped by a snowstorm in the Sierra Nevada and many of them died. This day, we easily drove over the pass on a good highway. It is difficult to realize the difficult journey of 1846.

We went on down the pass and stopped at the beautiful and hilly little town of Auburn, which dates from the gold rush days. There sure were lots of friendly people and we had an excellent lunch at the Brookside Restaurant.
